Advocacy

Given the importance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of mothers and children, it is critical that we take action across the country to support breastfeeding.

Women who choose to breastfeed face numerous barriers. Through the work of advocates, communities, clinicians, health care systems, and employers, we will enable breastfeeding to become the easy choice, the default choice.

Breastfeeding is the gold standard of infant feeding due to multiple health benefits to mother and baby. This method of feeding is endorsed by many professional groups including The World Health Organization, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the USDA, and many others. South Carolina has encouraged breastfeeding and acknowledged it as a public right.
